Police appeal over Winchester rail death
TRANSPORT Police are appealing for witnesses after the body of a man was found on the tracks at Winchester railway station.
A train driver spotted the body at about 11.30pm on Saturday. He had suffered severe impact injuries.
The dead man is aged around 60 and believed to be from the Basingstoke area.
British Transport Police believe they know his identity but were yesterday (MON) unable to track down his next of kin.
DC Trevor Wilson said: "The death is not suspicious. He was alone. The question is whether he jumped or fell."
A CCTV camera at the station recorded the man at around 8.45pm. DC Wilson would like to speak to anyone who saw the man between then and around 11.30pm.
Anyone with information should contact BTP on 0800 405040.
