Jessamy steps up successfully

| GOOD AS GOLD: Jessamy Tyrrell. |
WINCHESTER Judo and Martial Arts Club member Jessamy Tyrrell won a gold medal at the recent Hampshire Judo Championship at Portsmouth's Mountbatten Centre.
The 15-year-old old had no one to compete against in the u63kg section so stepped up to the next category.
And it was in the u70kg that Jessamy found success. Despite giving away over 10kg she made short work of the bigger opponents to win all her fights by a maximum ten points.
Jessie now hopes to represent the county at the inter-county team championships in May.
In the boys' section ten-year-old Harry Boby, fighting in the u38kg section, lost his first bout to the eventual bronze medallist but went on to win his next fight with some aggressive attacking Judo.
In his third fight Harry made a good start to score early, but unfortunately got thrown and was out of the competition.
Grant Stansfield, 14, fought in the u46kg section. Winning only one of his three fights, Grant had the misfortune of fighting the eventual silver and bronze medallist, but performed well.
