Maximum points for Eastleigh
TOUGH TACKLING: David Hughes, centre, for Eastleigh against Bognor.
TOUGH TACKLING: David Hughes, centre, for Eastleigh against Bognor.

EASTLEIGH made it six points out of six over the Easter period when they beat Bognor Regis 1-0 - after defeating Newport County just two days earlier.

It was the third time the Spitfires had beaten Bognor Regis this season without conceding a goal. Three of the four visits of Bognor to the Silverlake stadium have produced a 1-0 Eastleigh win.

A foot injury obtained at home meant that Mark Marshall did not feature in the Easter Monday match, with Matt Hann making a start. Anthony Riviere was also injured, with Luke Byles returning from suspension coming into the team.

The ball was not on the ground very much in the early stages, but Hann had a shot saved. Vickers ventured upfield on a couple of occasions and he had one header deflected for a corner and another wide. A header from Paul Sales went across the goal with no-one able to get a decisive touch. Bognor did not create too much in the first half although Mark Knee came close on one occasion.

Bognor had more of the play in the second half, but they fell behind in the 54th minute when a long kick from Jason Matthews was touched on by Paul Sales for Forbes to score. Forbes had also scored in Eastleigh's two previous wins against Bognor this season.
